ISLAMIC RELIEF

ISLAMIC RELIEF  PURPOSE:
To promote sustainable economic and social development through development programmes, helping the needy regardless of race, religion or gender. 

COUNTRY PURPOSE:

Islamic Relief is a UK based charity that seeks to alleviate the sufferings of the world’s poorest people. The Indonesia programme was established in 2003 to deliver emergency relief and developmental activity in disaster prone and impoverished areas. Since then the agency implemented multi - sectoral programme in Banda Aceh, Banten, West Java, Jogjakarta, NTB and West Sumatera.

Presently IR is implementing a child welfare programme in Aceh and rolling out an integrated sustainable development programme in NTB. The main sectors for Indonesia Programme include Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), WASH, Sustainable Livelihoods and Orphans’ SupportThe Indonesia programme is managed by Jakarta based country office that provides administrative, programmatic and financial oversight to the field offices.

JOB PURPOSE    : To promote sustainable economic and social development through development programmes, helping the needy regardless of race, religion or gender. 

LOCATION           :Banda Aceh with frequent travel to project locations in Aceh Besar district         
DURATION          : 12 months with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds (Local Hire)
Background
In the anticipation of a potential intervention in Aceh Besar - Aceh province, Islamic Relief Indonesia has to recruit a ‘competent personnel to demonstrate competencies in business development and training and capacity building of beneficiaries in agriculture, aquaculture, and entrepreneurship. The assignment is expected to commence towards November 2015, for a period of 12 months. The position will be based in Banda Aceh with frequent visit to the field to support agriculture/aquaculture activities project in Aceh Besar District.
Following the successful implementation of phase 1 under which 11 Pesantren(Islamic Boarding School) were provided income generating opportunities in Aceh Besar, a follow up project (phase 2) is proposed to extend the benefits to 12 other Pesantren within the greater Aceh Besar district of Aceh Province.  The proposed project seeks to a) promote agriculture and aquaculture as an income generating activity for 12 Pesantren schools; b) provide the students agriculture/aquaculture vocational skills and being ready for start business or for the workforce, and; c) create and strengthen marketing linkages and enterprise building capacities amongst supported institutions in order to achieve sustainable impact.

Under the overall objective of improving the quality of services provided by Pesantren and traditional Islamic boarding schools and within the specific objective of enhancing their income generating capacities, the project will focus on indigenous traits with established demand in the local markets including vegetable farming and aquaculture. Sustainability will be ensured by creating market linkages and strengthening business management capacities of beneficiary Pesantren.
  
The upcoming intervention seeks to identify high value of agriculture/aquaculture cultivation, enhance profitability of supported groups through training, capacity building and provision of inputs for the formulation and implementation of business expansion plans.  With this background, IR seeks an innovative, motivate, dynamic and experienced individual for the delivery of project activities and for achieving the objective of enhanced profitability for supporting youth in Pesantren.

1. Livelihood Assistant (1 person)

REPORTING LINES:
Post holder reports to: Livelihood Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Work in collaboration with livelihoods officer to conduct project socialization, community meeting and focus group discussion in each targeted intervention sites
·         Assist in community outreach activities and recruit direct beneficiaries for enrollment in program in consultation with project team members and relevant goverment agencies/institutions
·         Assist livelihoods officer  in designing and disseminating technical trainings in agriculture/aquaculture cultivationas project well as other capacity building initiatives foreseen in the project
·         Ensure that support Pesantren students also teachers and maintain recommended standards at all stages i.e.seeding, plantingharvesting, post harvest management, value addition and marketing; 
·         Provide on-going technical assistanceto beneficiaries in agriculture/aquaculture cultivation through structured trainings and follow up monitoring and farm-level extension;
·         Conduct frequent monitoring of project activities and target farmer groups for the collection of  quantitative and qualitative data for the purpose of reporting and impact assessment;
·         Assist the livelihood officer to build and manage meaningful relations with local project participants in the village, such as heads of villages, religious leaders, women’s groups, local NGOs and specialized government agencies, to ensure their active participation and contribution to the project.
·         Assist in the oversight of IRIndonesia complaints handling mechanism at the field.
·         Field reporting.
·         Other tasks as directed by line manager

KEY COMPETENCIES
·         A university degree or other suitable qualification in a related field (extensive experience in the production and marketing of mushroom products can be considered in lieu of educational requirement)
·         1 – 3 years experience in women economic empowerment, community development and project development
·         Good communication skills for advocacy, training, and facilitation
·         Good report writing skills, and good computer skills, including internet and email
·         Ability to provide leadership as well as work as a member of a team
·         High degree of adaptability to varied working environtments and good interpersonal skills
·         Able to maintain good relationship with government agencies/institutions at all levels, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
·         Experience in program monitoring
·         Good spoken and written Indonesian is a must while proficiency in English language and local language as an advantage;
·         Sincere commitment to engaging women and involving gender consideration into project planning required

Eijkman Institute


Position: Research Assistant in REACHOUT Project 
The position offers an opportunity for motivated candidates to join an international collaborative project between the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK. The Eijkman Institute is a prestigious well established internationally acclaimed research institute advancing and contributing to infectious and non-infectious disease based scientific research. Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is an international centre of excellence with up to date access and expertise in tropical infectious diseases making them a world leader in their field.
 
Experience in conducting qualitative research
/time management and organisational skills and ability to work both collaboratively and independently across a multi-disciplinary team are essential. Good command of written and spoken English and experience is necessary.

Purpose:
To work under the mentorship of the project Principal Investigators and under the coordination of the Senior Research Associate to ensure the study is implemented according to the protocol and support day to day research activities  in Cianjur, West Java, based fixed term for 24 months andextendable.
 
Qualification:
Medical Degree or Masters in Public Health or Masters in Developmental Social Science discipline or Womens Health or higher qualification.

Additional merit:
Work experience in rural settings 3 months or more is desirable. Experience in using qualitative or quantitative is desirable.
 
The successful candidate will be based in 
Cianjur, West Java. It is a fulltime project based position initially for 24 months and depending on work performance, will be extended for the project period. He/she is open to learning new skills and will work independently with limited supervision.

S/he works with the Program Development and Quality (PDQ) team to ensure the quality delivery of all CP programs in the development and humanitarian contexts by ensuring that they adhere to programmatic good practice and that they have strong monitoring, accountability, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) systems.  S/he has technical assistance oversight of national (multi-region) CP programs including the Families First Signature Program and children with disability project.  S/he is responsible for maintaining and developing relevant high-level contacts within the Indonesian Government, among peer organizations, and across civil society.  S/he is also responsible to identify program development opportunities and lead technical contributions to relevant proposals.  In addition, the CPA will have extensive contact with Save the Children members technical and fundraising staff. Background

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is looking to hire an Finance and  Administrative Officer to support the team in their Jakarta office.
 
GGGI is an international organization founded in June 2010. GGGI is dedicated to pioneering and diffusing a new model of economic growth, known as “green growth”. This simultaneously targets key aspects of economic performance, such as poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion and those of environmental sustainability such as mitigation of climate change and security of access to clean water. The Jakarta office is offering a position within a varied and dynamic team, with the post holder taking responsibility for all general aspects of day-to-day finance ad administrative support for the team. Reporting to the Finance and Officer Manager (FOM), the role will involve extensive management for a diverse team who frequently travel within Indonesia and internationally. 
 
Key Responsibilities
The Finance and Admin Officer will be responsible for supporting Finance and Office Manager for the implemention of the administration, accounting and  financial control systems for GGGI Indonesia. The officer will support the team in using adequate and appropriate internal controls to meet generally-recognized accounting and administration standards. In addition FAO will lead the logistical arrangements and management for all workshops, conferences, events at the national and subnational level. The officer will also be responsible for all travel arrangements for the Indonesia team.
 
Financial management
·   Ensure that all transaction are conducted, processed and recorded as stipulated by the systems and procedures
·   Keep accurate and up to date records on all transactions including bank account and daily petty cash counts
·   Ensure there are sufficient funds available in the Jakarta and subnational offices for efficient and effective implementation of the Program
·    Act as cashier
·    Prepare replenishment requests for approval
·    Prepare cash accounts and pety cash reconciliation
·    Assist the FOM prepare monthly expenditure report
·    Receive and review expenses report from field offices and advice FOM of any issues
·    Assist the FOM with financial audits
 
Workshops/Events organization and Logistics Support
·   Coordinate work with procurement officer and team members for all logistical matters related workshop/conference/events organization (including travel, accommodation, preparation material)
·   Lead all travel arrangements for the Indonesia team both nationally and internationally (including per diem, accommodation, flight arrangements)
·   Other administrative duties as required
 
Qualifications
 
·   Bachelor educational qualification in business administration / business management / HR or a related subject
·   At least three years administrative management experience, preferably with large-scale international projects
·   Experience in event organization and logistics
·   Excellent computer skills including, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook exchange email system
·   Ability to produce well-written reports and business correspondence, in English and Indonesian
·   Exceptionally organized with excellent prioritization skills
·   Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multi-cultural teams
·   Strong oral and written English, and fluency in Indonesian/Bahasa is essential

To support the SurfAid programs in monitoring and improving the existing programmes and designing and implementing new water and sanitation projects in SurfAid target locations (Nias, Mentawai, Bima, and Sumba). This also includes setting standards for implementation, capacity building for SurfAid staff, community members and water committees.
