MICRA Indonesia

MICRA Indonesia is a local foundation founded in 2006 and expand its work over the past nine years in microfinance throughout Indonesia. MICRA’s mission is to build the institutional strength and outreach of the Indonesian microfinance sector and poverty alleviation, by providing a full range of high-quality, best-practice technical inputs and support to all industry stakeholders, in a sustainable and demand-driver manner.
 
MICRA Indonesia is currently seeking Indonesian citizen to fill the post through external candidates:
 
Researcher
 
Working under the direction of Research and Innovation Unit, the researcher will assist in day-to-day research activity in timely and accurate manner.
 
Qualifications:
 
a)      Male or female with maximum age 30 years old;
b)      Broad intellectual background with university degree in development study, social science or related subjects;
c)       Minimum 3 (three) years experiences in research activities, including research for microfinance, micro and macro economic, poverty alleviation, small and medium enterprises and social economic of agriculture;
d)      Knowledge of and intensive engagement with various forms of social activities are essential;
e)      Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research instruments;
f)       Advanced writing skills is preferred;
g)      Strong computer skills in MS office programs and statistics software;
h)      Strong organizational skill as well as attention to detail;
i)        Willing to travel out of town and work under demanding schedule with tight deadlines;
j)        Proficiency in English verbal and writing is an advantage.

Eawag

Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is a Swiss-based and internationally networked aquatic research institute. Eawag is committed to the ecologically, economically and socially responsible management of water resources and aquatic ecosystems.
Sandec is Eawag’s research department of Sanitation, Water and Solid Waste for Development. The R&D activities of Sandec take place in close collaboration with international and local partners. Sandec’s projects aim at increasing the R&D capacities and professional expertise in the partner countries. 

Sandec manages the project FORWARD (From ORganic WAste to Recycling for Development). For this R&D project we are searching an Indonesian citizen for the position of:

Researcher Organic Waste Conversion (Location: Kec. Taman, Kab. Sidoarjo)

Project scope & status
After an initial broad assessment phase, FORWARD is now developing a research-managed Pilot Facility to transform suitable organic waste into larvae of the Black Soldier Fly and into earthworms. Both outputs will be commercialised as feed for fish and birds. Compost and biogas production are developed as supporting technologies for specific organic waste fractions.
FORWARD objective is to demonstrate technical and economic viability for the conversion of organic municipal solid waste in medium-sized cities in Indonesia.

Job responsibilities
The selected researcher will execute the daily operation of the Black Soldier Fly reproduction and the conversion of organic waste with young BSF larvae in an experimental setup. He/she will contribute to the improvement of the processes through generation, collection and analysis of scientific data. Assistance in data collection for compost and biogas processes can be part of the scope. Communication of research results as well as informing and training future stakeholders will become part of the scope during the second half of the assignment.

Required qualifications
- Graduated in agriculture, biology, environmental engineering or other natural sciences
- Hands-on personality and prepared to work with maggots and waste
- Good command of English
- Willing to reside within 15 km of the project site
- Previous experience with organic waste or knowledge of insects will be an advantage
- Already a few years of relevant professional experience will be an extra asset.

The East Java government, through PT Puspa Agro, provides the project site.

The Indonesian Institute for Energy Economics (IIEE) was established in 1995 with the primary objective to enhance energy economics studies that motivate and support national policies for prudent development and utilization of energy resources in Indonesia. IIEE focuses its works on energy economics, related policy and the respective implementations.  IIEE is well respected for its independent studies and active role in key policy processes.http://www.iiee.or.id.

Now IIEE is looking for Researcher in Energy Economics (Code: RSCH) – Project Based for 3 (three) months with possibility extended and to be located in Jakarta with following requirements:

•     Bachelor Degree from an accredited university in the field of Engineering, Science, and Economics
•     1 - 2 years of progressive experience in research
•     Interested in energy economic, policy and environmental issues particularly for energy and environmental modeling and planning.
•     High skill in report writing, both at academic and business level
•     Computer literate is a must, candidate with expertise in web development is preferable
•     Good in English both verbal and written
•     Has to have strong drive, positive attitude & personality, strong leadership potential, good in communication, good in analytical, honesty, independence, assertive and well motivated
•     Able to work under tight schedule, independently or as a team
