Red Nose Foundation (RNF)

Red Nose Foundation (RNF), or Yayasan Hidung Merah, is a non-profit arts and education outreach organization based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Established in 2008, the foundation works to help local underprivileged children build dreams.

Currently the foundation operates two learning centers across Greater Jakarta: one in a poor fishermen community in Cilincing on the shores of North Jakarta and the other in a trash scavengers’ slum in Jurangmangu Timur, South Tangerang. Yayasan Hidung Merah (www.rednosefoundation.org) is looking for Field Instructors/teachers to be part of the Education Team.

Requirements

-       Bachelor's degree in Science Education/Art Education/Primary Education/Science/Art

-       Fresh graduate are welcome to apply with min. GPA of 3.0

-       Previous teaching experience would be an advantage

-       Possess knowledge and skills of facilitating fun, engaging, and inquiry-based learning activities.

-       Understand and able to teach lesson up to High School materials

-       Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially with children

-       Computer skills including the ability to operate Microsoft office and emails

-       Intermediate English speaking and written skills.

-       Have a passion in helping kids to love science and apply their knowledge for daily live

Duties

-             Responsible for preparing the day-to-day teaching plan and the program teaching material

-             Teach science to group of children age 10-17 years old in Cilincing and Bintaro Lama sites

-             Assist day to day duty of EM

-             Report and provide information to EM on weekly class progress

-             Provide information and updates to EM regarding students absence, student’s progress on the education

-             Collect and compile student reports and progress to EM

-             Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures

-             Any other tasks assigned by supervisor or directing staff

Key Accountabilities

Hidung Merah’s organization is made up of four main programs.  All four programs are aimed and focused
towards the continued support and development of education for Indonesia’s underprivileged children. 
1) Hidung Merah’s largest program, Arts and Education Outreach, currently works in two villages with 135 children.  This program meets the children up to five times per week.  This program includes weekly arts (mainly circus, but not limited to), informal education classes, tutoring sessions, mentoring and guidance and full or partial scholarships for the children’s traditional schooling.  
2) Red Nose Relief is Hidung Merah’s emotional relief and trauma healing program.  Since its inception in 2008, RNR has reached approximately 65,000 children in post conflict/disaster areas spread across Indonesia.  
3) Hidung Merah Performance Troupe is the program offered to the most advanced students.  These students train together once a week (outside of their regular Arts and Education classes), preparing shows to be performed at a variety of venues including social and ‘commercial’ events.
4) Red Nose Renovation is Hidung Merah’s attempt to improve the learning environment of the formal schools in our slum communities.  Hidung Merah finds sponsors for each project and facilitates the renovation of these public schools.
