Helen Keller International (HKI)

Helen Keller International (HKI) is an international non-governmental organization whose mission is to save the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged by combating the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition. We do this by establishing programs based on
evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition. Established in 1915, HKI maintains its Headquarters in New York City, with Regional Offices in Senegal and Phnom Penh to support 22 country offices in Africa and Asia.
 
We are currently seeking a Finance Manager who will be responsible for tracking the financial progress and implementation of all activities of Helen Keller International in Indonesia. Since the 1970s,
HKI Indonesia has been working to establish sustainable evidence-based approaches to enhance health and nutrition, improve education for the disabled, and expand access to eye health services for Indonesians, particularly women and children. HKI’s programs are integrated at all levels of the government health and education structure by helping to develop its human resources and infrastructure, conduct needs assessments, analyze local context to inform program design and implementation, train personnel, provide basic equipment and medicines, deliver services if needed, and monitor program progress and evaluate program impact.
 
SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Report Directly to:      HKI Indonesia Country Director.
Direct the Work of:    HKI Finance Staff and Liaise with Office Coordinator and Program Managers.
Collaborate with:       HKI Asia Pacific Regional Staff; HKI HQ Finance and Program Departments; Governmental, International and Non-Governmental Organizations.
 
MAJOR TASKS AND ACTIVITIES:
 
Overall Management and Leadership
·       Manage Finance Staff and support Program Management staff to achieve the objectives agreed to in grants and contracts for HKI Indonesia projects.
·       As part of the Indonesia Senior Management Team, assist in the development of strategic plans to further the overall mission and specific programs of HKI that meet the evolving needs and conditions in Indonesia.
·       Represent HKI in meetings with Indonesian Government officials, international donor agencies, and national technical advisory groups, especially at meetings related to finance and grants.
·       With the Program Managers, ensure up-to-date information on all financial aspects of programs. 
 
Financial Management
·       Ensure that financial reports are submitted to HKI Headquarters and donors as required by project agreements. 
·       Submit financial information as requested by external audiences to the Asia Pacific Regional Office and key Headquarters staff for review and approval before release.
·       Work with the Indonesia Country Director, HKI Regional Office and HQ to manage the development of annual field budgets for Indonesia projects.
·       Oversee the preparation of financial reports so that they comply with grant or contract agreements.
·       Ensure compliance with, and timely submission of, financial reports within the guidelines established by HKI and its donors.
·       Assist the Indonesia Country Director to strengthen the capacity of the Finance staff.
 
Marketing & Fundraising
·       Contribute to the generation of concept papers, proposals, budget development and other information as needed for submission to donors and others for fundraising and marketing purposes. 
 
Skills/Knowledge Required:
·       Bachelor’s degree and at least ten years’ experience in accounting and/or financial management or in a closely related field.
·       Previous financial management experience with a non-governmental organization or similar
entity.
·       Experience in analyzing and improving financial management systems.
·       Demonstrated experience and skills in budget development and monitoring.
·       Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations would be a plus.
·       Good oral and written English language skills.
·       Computer literate in the use of word-processing, spreadsheet, accounting software (ACCPAC or QuickBooks) and local area networking.
