THE POSITION

LOCATION: HEADQUARTERS
We are recruiting a highly talented, motivated, creative Communications Manager to lead Kopernik’s communications team, working to engage and excite target audiences, mobilising support to help Kopernik serve more people in the last mile. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 7 years work experience, with at least three years in a similar role supervising others.
  • Degree in relevant discipline.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies, plans and creative campaigns.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English and Indonesian.
  • Strong visual communication skills and ability to apply brand guidelines to print and digital materials.
  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to draw out compelling stories from impact data.
  • Ability to work quickly and deliver projects to tight deadlines. 
  • Fully computer literate and tech savvy, knowledge of design, video and photo-editing software an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Positive attitude, hard working, reliable, motivated, and passionate about social impact.
  • Clear understanding of social entrepreneurship, experience working in fields related to social innovation or women’s empowerment an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • High level interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels and to engage a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Ability to perform to a high level under limited supervision.
  • Indonesian national.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure Kopernik’s communications strategy aligns with the organisation’s mission and goals.
  • Design, implement and evaluate program-level communications plans to reach target audiences.
  • Manage Kopernik’s communications platforms to ensure website and social media channels are updated regularly and reflect key messages.
  • Manage preparation and production of communications materials including annual reports, monthly newsletters, announcements, donor reports, media releases, flyers, brochures, videos, infographics, and marketing collateral.
  • Manage Kopernik’s advocacy program. 
  • Manage and motivate the communications team (Web Developer, Advocacy Officer, Communications Officers) to produce their best work.
  • Encourage an active culture of information-sharing and storytelling within the Kopernik team.
  • Represent Kopernik at high-level events.
  • Manage the communications budget.

Purpose of job:
This is a new senior post for an experienced, high-performing and dynamic marketing and communications professional to play a major role at the heart of the Indonesia operation helping the British Council to achieve its ambitious cultural relations and business goals.

The British Council has a long-standing reputation in Indonesia as a well-respected cultural relations organisation, creating opportunities and building relationships between Indonesia and the UK in the areas of three main Strategic Business Units (SBU); Education and Society, Arts, and English. It operates from its large main office in Jakarta. We also work through our teaching centre in Medan, and our soon to be opened teaching centres in Jakarta and Surabaya which operate through the Yayasan Dewan Inggris Indonesia. British Council works with a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit sector partners.

·         Strategic communications, brand and editorial management
·         Social media and Develop digital content offer
·         Monitoring, Evaluation and Research
·         Event Management
·         Financial management
·         Developing and leading the team
 
 
KEY RELATIONSHIPS :
·         Internal
Country Director, Director Operation, Director English Language Services, the Management Team, UK and regional Marketing and Communications and Brand colleagues. Teaching Centre and Exams marketing and sales leads, Global Information System Leads.
·         External
Key Indonesia and UK stakeholders and partners in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. British Embassy. Journalists and editors (all media). Bloggers and influencers in social media. Key customer groups. Press and media.  Media agencies.
Measures of success
·         Internal stakeholders and senior managers in the region can clearly connect improved profile, business and impact results to the communications strategy and work of post holder
 
Other Important Features Or Requirements Of The Job
·         The nature of communications work means the post holder must be prepared to respond and work outside of normal office hours on occasions. The job will require some travel within the region.
