VACANCY HIVOS GENDER & TRAINING OFFICER (GTO) - JAKARTA INDONESIA DOMESTIC BIOGAS PROGRAMME Title : Gender & Training Officer (GTO) for IDBP Duty Station : Jakarta Responsible to : IDBP Program Manager Closing date : 30 June 2012 Since 15 May 2009, Hivos is running the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme, funded by the Dutch government. This programme is undertaken in close cooperation with SNV Netherlands Development organization. The overall objective of the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme is to disseminate domestic bio-digesters as a local and sustainable energy source through the development of a commercial, market oriented sector in selected provinces. The specific objectives of the Programme contributing to its overall objective are: •To support implementation of provincial bio-digester programmes and increase the number of quality domestic bio-digesters with 8,000 in maximum eight provinces, of which 2,000 installations will be outside Java; •To ensure the continued operation of all bio-digesters installed under the programme; •To maximize the benefits of the operated bio-digesters, in particular the optimal use of digester slurry; •To develop the capacity of existing organizations and institutions and to facilitate establishment of organizations and institutions for the continued and sustained development of the bio-digester sector; •To develop financial services to enable poor farmer households to participate in the biogas programmes; •To effectively exchange knowledge between all relevant actors in the programme and with relevant international actors. A Gender and Training Officer (GTO) will be recruited as part of the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme team in Jakarta, be responsible for IDBP’s gender sensitization, user surveys and user training activities at the provincial level and provide supports for the Provincial teams. The tasks include the following: 1.Design, coordinate and roll out gender sensitization activities in IDBP at national as well as provincial level; 2.Ensure that gender sensitization, social inclusion and good governance aspects in the sector are included in the communication,promotion and marketing strategies and biogas construction by female masons; 3.Support capacity building activities for partner organizations to ensure these are gender sensitive; 4.Coordinate, monitor, assess and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of the gender sensitization, user surveys and user training activities; 5.Ensure user trainings of all IDBP partners are of high quality and gender sensitive; 6.Work with and support programme stakeholders (government, NGOs, private sector, MFIs) in promoting gender sensitization in programme implementation; 7.Play a role in developing knowledge dissemination; 8.Participate actively in internal and external sector networks and knowledge events; 9.Assist in developing promotion strategies and plans in cooperation with BIRU staff and partners, in order to integrate gender sensitization into their daily activities; 10.Ensure gender sensitization in all communication, promotion, marketing and training materials; 11.Identify and document factors that facilitate/hinder the adoption of gender sensitization in the Programme, and provide advice accordingly; 12.Contribute to Programme development strategies.
