Background
SNV is an international not-for-profit development organization that works in 36 of the poorest countries around the world covering water and sanitation, agriculture and energy.  In agriculture, SNV works with smallholder farmers, pastoralists, forest-dependent communities and companies to provide innovative, market-based solutions to the issues of sustainable markets, food security and climate change.
 
We are now seeking a qualified candidate to fill the post of Project Officer Sustainable Rattan Productionto work on the EC funded PROSPECT Indonesia - Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production of
Eco Friendly Rattan in Indonesia).  SNV is supporting PUPUK in implementing this project with a particular focus on working with processors to implement inclusive business models.  The inclusive Business approach is defined as profitable and sustainable entrepreneurial initiatives that seek to
contribute to poverty reduction by including lower-income communities within the value chains of companies as employees, suppliers, consumers or distributors.
 
Responsibilities 
· Support rattan processors in establishing linkages and long term cooperation with local rattan producers
· Support rattan processors with labour force development 
· Facilitate access to technology and finance for SME rattan processors
· Provide training and support for rattan processers in green products and design 
· Support project officers in other production centers with implementing inclusive business approaches 
· Prepare project progress reports and support project monitoring and evaluation 
 
Duty Station:  Cirebon
with frequent travel to other areas in Indonesia. Please note that the successful candidate needs to be based in Cirebon on a permanent basis. 
 
Candidate Profile 
· A university degree in agriculture, economics, agricultural economics, agribusiness, business management or other relevant discipline
· A minimum 3 years experience with rattan production and/or processing or closely related product 
· Experience in working with SMEs in sustainable production and supply chains  
· Results orientated with an entrepreneurial attitude 
· Strong communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English 
 
Contract Duration:  A one-year associate advisor contract with possibility of extension for a further three years will be offered to the successful candidate through SNV’s Vietnam office.
