Jhpiego is a global leader in the creation of innovative approaches to develop human resources for better health service.

The Jhpiego Indonesia programs are aimed to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes in Indonesia. In order to reach our goals, we are now recruiting a Jakarta based positions of Senior Communication Manager to be part of the Jhpiego Indonesia great team. Overview:
 
Expanding Maternal and Neonatal Survival (EMAS) is a 5-year program in Indonesia that aims to contribute to a 25% reduction in maternal and neonatal mortality by 2016. The Senior Communications Manager will lead the refinement and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the work of the EMAS project in Indonesia to key constituencies, including but not limited to governments, donor agencies, policy makers, partner organizations, media, academic institutions.  
 
Responsibilities:
 
§  Oversee and implement a communications strategy promoting the EMAS project with key constituencies.  Communicate that information in a reader friendly manner.
§  Supervise a communications officer implementing the communications strategy for EMAS brand recognition.
§  Write stories/narratives about the work of EMAS and share with  media outlets.
§  Develop a public service announcement strategy and media partnerships to implement the strategy.
§  Develop and supervise the development of  collateral materials for all communication activities
§  Ensure that communication materials reflect Jhpiego communications guidelines and EMAS communications
§  Supervise and assist in developing the EMAS website to ensure it is current, accurate and interesting.
§  Develop a social media campaign effective to contributing to the reduction of maternal mortality and brand recognition of EMAS
§  Work with Jhpiego global communications and public relations efforts to have stories and information about EMAS placed nationally and internationally
§  Develop events and conference strategy towards the goals of the project.
§  Assist in the coordination of  public affairs, media and external events
§  Write narratives and program information in a reader friendly manner for use in EMAS materials and communications.
§  Provide communications technical support throughout the organization and in the field.
§  Ensure that programs are documented with visuals and photographs.
§  Supervise proper branding of all EMAS materials.
 
 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
§  S1 in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field; S2 preferred
§  Strong writing skills
§  10+ years’ experience in writing and communication preferably in the health or development field
§  Excellent oral, written and communication skills
§  Familiarity with Indonesian media outlets – proven track record of collaboration with these outlets.
§  Ability to develop a communications network 
§  Understanding of communications channels, including electronic and print media
§  Knowledge of social network and media communications
§  Ability to develop communications plans to synchronize with organizational goals in fundraising and development, government and corporate relations
§  Ability to develop and maintain relationships with audiences important to the EMAS project, including news media, legislators, donors and prospective donors, and corporate leaders
§  Ability to represent EMAS effectively to external audiences including corporate and foundation executives, business and government organizations and other cooperating agencies
§  Strong organizational, analytical and assessment skills
§  Ability to meet deadlines under extreme pressure
§  Ability to build consensus and work with a diverse groups of people
§  Experience and ability to travel throughout the country
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
§  Proficiency in English and Bahasa
§  Familiarity with international health issues
§  Understanding of international development
§  Existing relationships and network of contacts in the health and/or development communication area
