Senior National Agribusiness Advisor, Jakarta
Background
SNV is an international not-for-profit development organization that works in 36 of the poorest countries around the world covering water and sanitation, agriculture and energy. In agriculture, SNV works with smallholder farmers, pastoralists, forest-dependent communities and companies to provide innovative, market-based solutions to the issues of sustainable markets, food security and climate change. We are now seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the post of Senior Advisor Agribusiness to work on upcoming assignments and to grow SNV’s
inclusive business work in Indonesia. The inclusive Business approach is defined as profitable and sustainable entrepreneurial initiatives that seek to contribute to poverty reduction by including lower-income communities
within the value chains of companies as employees, suppliers, consumers or distributors.
Responsibilities
* Development and implement sustainable supply chains with agribusiness, suppliers and smallholder farmers in the coffee sector
* Support baseline studies, market assessments and value chain analysis across a range of sector
* Establish and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders across the private and public sector
* Conduct research and provide information and data necessary for formulating realistic and viable proposals.
* Prepare project progress reports and project references
* Support SNV’s work more broadly as required
Duty Station: Jakarta with frequent travel to other provinces. Please note that the successful candidate needs to be based in Jakarta on a permanent basis.
Candidate Profile
* A university degree in agriculture, economics, agricultural economics, agribusiness, business management or other relevant discipline
* A minimum of 5 years experience working in value chain development in Indonesia, preferably with experience in one or more of the following sectors: coffee, dairy, spices and aquaculture
* Results orientated with an entrepreneurial attitude
* Direct experience in applying agricultural certification standards such as Utz, 4C, Rain Forest Alliance and Fair Trade
* Experience in working with major companies to develop supply chains
* Excellent communication skills in English and proven experience in proposal development, report writing and monitoring and evaluation
Contract Duration: A one-year associate advisor contract with possibility of extension will be offered to the successful candidate through SNV’s Vietnam office.
