Save the Children

Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental alliance of 29 member organizations that works in 120 countries throughout the world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since 1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection, livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. The Skills to Succeed project supports vulnerable youth in gaining employment skills through capacity development, entrepreneurship skills development, and vocational education. The Skills to Succeed project will be implemented in Bandung, West Java and Lampung, Lampung for a period of two years. Currently Save the Children has an immediate need for experienced staffs to be part of our new Accenture project team and will be based in Lampung. The position we are looking for is: Senior Project Officer (code: SPO - Lampung) – 1 post, based in Lampung The post holder is directly report to Deputy of EXCEED Project Manager – S/he will carry out the Accenture Skills to Succeed (StS) program in Lampung including leading all implementation of activities; managing key relationships with local NGO partners, the private sector, and the government; overseeing financial implementation; and reporting on progress to the Bandung-based Project Coordinator. This will include assessing employment opportunities for vulnerable youth and coordinating closely with internal (the EXCEED project) and external stakeholders. Job Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities 1. Coordinate with the Bandung-based Project Coordinator for project planning in Lampung. 2. Oversee the assessment of local employment opportunities for the targeted population in Lampung. 3. Make general recommendations for project activities in Lampung. 4. Select local NGO implementing partners. 5. Oversee the implementation of activities in Lampung including the work through local NGO partners. Ensure that all activities are implemented according to established plans and agreements. 6. Work to develop and maintain key relationships with external business associations, local education providers, employers, and government stakeholders. 7. Build the capacity as necessary of local NGO partners (programmatic and financial improvements) and/or other education service providers. 8. Monitor project progress and submit high-quality programmatic reports. 9. Ensure appropriate financial implementation of the project including ensuring that expenditures are made on a regular basis and reported correctly. 10. Coordinate closely with the EXCEED project in Lampung. Occasional Significant Duties 1. Coordinate visits from Bandung, Jakarta, and international technical and managerial staff. 2. Coordinate with other projects in Lampung. Requirements: Education: Bachelor Degree in related discipline- preferably Education or Economic Development. Skill and Experiences: * Minimum 5 years total working experience with at least 3 years working experience with NGO and responsible for similar duties. * Proven successful experience in development projects, preferably in education and/or economic development. * Having experience working with local governments, school and communities. * Capable doing strong assessment, project design skills and continuing monitoring & evaluation of the implementation. * Good knowledge of vocational and informal education context in Lampung. * Having experience building capacity of and supervising local NGO partners. * Good understanding of the Indonesia education system. * Good communications skills including ability for basic report writing in English. * Having experience in training and mentoring. * Knowledge of the local context * Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. * Financial management experience or knowledge. * Good interpersonal skills. * Good negotiation and advocacy skills * Good communication skill (written and spoken) English and Indonesian language. * Computer literate * Ability to work alone without frequent supervision.
